The free shuttle buses runs during the peak summer season from Saturday, May 28th (Memorial Day Weekend), through September 5th (Labor Day Weekend). Shuttle buses operate as Golden Gate Transit Route 66 and run every half-hour on weekends and holidays only between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m with less frequent service after 3:30 p.m. The last bus departs Muir Woods at 7:05 p.m. Route 66 shuttle buses depart from two locations: the Marin City bus stop on Donahue Street at the Marin Gateway Shopping Center and the Manzanita Park-and-Ride lot at the Highway 101 and Shoreline Highway interchange. The County of Marin has approved an agreement with Golden Gate Transit for the first season of the shuttle service. Golden Gate Transit will provide 30-foot clean diesel buses for the service.
