Parking Control Service, Inc. Settlement and Refund Information

How to receive your refund pursuant to the Settlement in People of the State of California v. Parking Control Service, Inc., Marin County Superior Court Case CV075793.

If you paid any parking charge(s) to Parking Control Service, Inc. ("PCS") from March 27, 2003 through December 12, 2007 as a result of a parking notice placed on your vehicle by a PCS employee for an alleged parking violation, you are eligible to receive a refund of all monies paid. You are eligible for the refund if you received the PCS parking notice in Alameda, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, or Sonoma Counties. There is no cost to you, the claimant, associated with receiving your refund other than possibly first class postage for mailing documentation as required. If you received multiple parking notices, you may make a separate claim for each parking notice received and paid.

You can claim your refund by either:

  • mailing in proof of payment; or
  • calling PCS to verify eligibility, and if eligible, mailing PCS proof of ownership or financial interest in the vehicle at the time of receipt of the parking notice.

MAILING IN PROOF OF PAYMENT

To claim your refund by mailing in proof of payment, mail a copy of the proof of payment (for example, cancelled check or credit card statement) showing a payment to Parking Control Service, Inc. with a brief note indicating you are requesting a refund pursuant to this settlement and including the vehicle license number.

Claims should be mailed to:

Parking Control Service Settlement Refund
P.O. Box 231
South San Francisco, CA 94083.

CALLING PCS AND MAILING IN PROOF OF OWNERSHIP OR FINANCIAL INTEREST

Due to the passage of time and the difficulty in obtaining proof of payment, this settlement provides for proof of payment by providing the vehicle's license number to PCS by calling toll free, 1-877-563-9444. PCS will ask for the vehicle license number and verify by reviewing their records that a parking notice was issued to that vehicle. PCS has one (1) business day from the time you call with your information to verify eligibility. To prevent fraudulent claims, upon verification of eligibility you will be required to send proof to PCS that you either owned or had a financial interest in the vehicle at the time the notice was received. Copies of documents are acceptable. Proof of ownership or financial interest includes, but is not limited to: vehicle registration, proof of vehicle insurance, bills of sale, official court documents, DMV documentation. Any documentation submitted must have the vehicle license number listed on it. PCS is required to destroy any documentation you submit to them within 60 days of sending your refund and will not use it for any other purpose.

Proof of ownership or financial interest should be mailed to:

Parking Control Service Settlement Refund
P.O. Box 231
South San Francisco, CA 94083.

Time Limits

The last day to submit refund claims is May 10, 2008. PCS has 30 days from receipt of each valid claim to mail that refund.
