The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) serves as a sounding board for the Department in crafting the Comprehensive Strategic Plan. The CAC represents the greater Marin community and provides a broad-based spectrum of individuals with varying perspectives about the role of parks and open space in Marin County.

The purpose of the CAC is to:

1. Examine the issues and challenges that will shape the County’s future parks and open space preserves and programs provided by the Marin County Department of Parks and Open Space.
2. Assist in defining an overall vision for County Parks and Open Space Preserves over the next 10-20 years, and goals related to the vision.
3. Review information provided during the strategic planning process.
4. Review the Comprehensive Strategic Plan reports and make recommendations to the Department for strategies to implement the parks, trails, and open space system master plans consistent with the vision and goals.
5. Provide recommendations about priorities for consideration by the Department, the County Parks and Open Space Commission, and the Board of Supervisors.
