Sustainability Programs Research Assistant, Sustainability Team - One semester; can be extended to two.
Flex hours, 8-10 a week. One position. Screen applicants for Dawn; she CAN’T take direct requests. Greenhouse gas knowledge
and being a self-starter both very important. Help make Marin’s future greener by updating a greenhouse gases database.
Project-based internship of at least 120 hours includes research, data entry, and report-writing. The intern will assist staff
with a newly formed joint powers authority to plan a community choice aggregation effort. In addition, the intern will help with
the green business, green building, and solar programs. Candidates must have background in and passion for sustainability topics,
particularly greenhouse gas emissions and metrics. The ideal intern will be a superior writer and a self-starter who can juggle tasks.
Also desired: proficiency in Word and Excel, and ability to plan events for 10 to 100 people. The intern will receive individual orientation
and will participate in Wednesday staff meetings.
Marin Housing Authority
Affordable Housing Intern - Intern will assist the Executive
Director of the Marin Housing Authority with different efforts depending on
interest and/or area of study. Only requirements are that the college/graduate
student is motivated to learn, has good writing skills, ability to research,
and is interested in affordable housing.
Marin Center, Cultural
Services
Maintenance Aide - Learn to solve problems, fix things, and build practical skills during a one-semester
internship with the Marin center Events Facilities Services team. Assist in all
facilities services with Marin Center Events including but not limited to
facilities maintenance, electrical, plumbing, keylocking, painting, and exhibits. The ideal candidate for this position has a can-do attitude,
willingness to learn, interest in the listed skills, and the ability to lift up to 60 pounds.

Web Assistant/Alcohol, Drug & Tobacco Prevention Programs -
Shape the on-line face of the Division of
Alcohol, Drug & Tobacco Programs’ (ADTP) internal and external web sites. The ideal candidate has some previous web site experience, can write and edit,
works independently, and is available 8 to 10 hours/week for at least 4 months. The intern will research content, keep web site information dynamic,
repair dead links, and send e-newsletter updates for constituents. Familiarity with Macromedia Dreamweaver a plus.
Orientation and basic instruction in Dreamweaver provided. Modest stipend available.
Coalition Community Organizer/Division of Alcohol, Drug & Tobacco Programs – -
Organize support for the Alcohol and Other Drug Community Coalition and its grassroots community efforts.
Attract new members, promote interaction, and gather feedback from members. The ideal intern is organized,
flexible, enthusiastic, communicates clearly in person and on the phone, enjoys working with diverse individuals and groups,
is interested in public speaking, and is available 8 to 10 hours/week for 4 months.
Intern will be introduced to the Division of Alcohol, Drug and Tobacco Programs (ADTP)
and will learn how community groups are structured. Coaching in public speaking included.
Once every other month, intern will attend a coalition meeting (early evening). Semester stipend possibly available.
Cancer Study Research Assistant -This crucial position can help make
The Marin Women's Study more efficient - a great opportunity for exposure to the field and a chance to be part of a vital cancer research team!
Student should be very detail-oriented, able to work systematically, and good at catching errors.
Minimum time commitment is 8 hours per week - ideal would be 16-20 hours per week.
Dental Assistants & Dental Hygienists - The
Marin County Children's Oral Health project need your skills! Work with County
staff on-site at state-subsidized day care centers throughout Marin. You will
conduct cleanings, fluoride treatments, x-rays, and screenings on 3-5 year old
children. Spanish language skills are a plus. Students preparing to become
assistants and hygienists are encouraged to apply especially if you enjoy and
are comfortable working with children! Weekdays and some Saturdays.
Health Education Outreach Coordinators - Help plan
and coordinate health education outreach to young people in the community.
Duties may include contacting schools, recruiting student help, drafting
outreach possibilities for teaching kids about general health and available
community resources, and policy development. Prefer intern in field of health
education, nutrition, nursing, or health. Spanish would be helpful but not
necessary
HIV/Hep C RN/Student Intern - Provide direct
information to local disenfranchised communities. You will talk with individuals
about sensitive medical concerns related to their risks to Hepatitis C/HIV and
pass out literature during street outreach at dining halls, drug treatment
programs, shelters, etc. Testing available on-site by mobile unit. Nursing
student will act as team leader and resource for outreach workers and
non-medical personnel. Must be able to take blood pressure and have basic
knowledge of normal and abnormal pressures. Phlebotomy skills not required but
preferred
Legal Self-Help Center
Paralegal Students and Law Interns - The Legal
Self-Help Center of Marin is looking for students able to commit a minimum of 90
hours to assist self represented litigants and individuals who need information
about specific legal matters. You may help diagnose legal issues,and identify
and complete appropriate legal forms. The Center provides legal information; not legal advice. You will also guide litigants to online resources and Nolo Press books, helping to move clients through the intake process, inform them of court procedures, filing fees, etc.
Sheriff (positions in the Sheriff's
Dept. require a 3-month long background check)
Human Resources Intern - Marin County
Sheriff's Office recruitment and hiring unit has an internship available for a
self motivated student who is familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, has some
filing experience, and/or skills in Human Resources and/or Criminal Justice are
encouraged to apply. This position will work closely with the Professional
Standards Unit which is primarily responsible for recruitment, hiring, and
training. All Marin County Sheriff's Department intern applicants are subject to
a complete background investigation including a truth verification interview
using voice stress analysis (CVSA) or Polygraph.
Crime Analysis Intern - Enter information from
field interview cards into a database in order to produce various reports.
Reports will be used to try to correlate crimes in various cities. Intern must
be proficient with MS Office Suite (Word/Excel/Access) and subject to a complete
background investigation including a Truth Verification interview using voice
stress analysis.
Jail Administrative Support Intern - Assist the
Jail Facility Regulatory Compliance Officer, in maintaining records, updating
systems and equipment to stay current with the changing laws and regulations
related to a County Jail. Intern may be asked to assist in setting up training,
organizing and updating documentation, completing research projects and
assisting in implementation of new regulations and standards. Must be able to
pass a complete background including a drug use questionnaire and possess basic
computer skills in Word and Windows.
