COMMUNITY HEALTH AND PREVENTION SERVICES
The Division of Public Health supports a variety of services that are provided by a network of local non-profit organizations and governmental agencies throughout Marin
County.
Early Childhood Health Consultation
The Early Childhood Health Consultant provides health and safety training, technical assistance, and consultation for early care and education providers and other community providers serving children birth to five and their families. These services include:
- Linking parents and early childhood programs to health and safety resources
- Health and safety training
- Phone consultation and technical assistance about health and safety concerns
- Assistance with vision and hearing screening in early childhood programs
- Help creating early childhood health and safety policies
- Health and safety curriculum development

Maternal Child and Adolescent Health
The Maternal Child and Adolescent Health Program (MCAH) develops prevention
and early intervention strategies to promote the health of the women, infants,
children, and adolescents of Marin County with a special focus on low-income
populations. MCAH program staff is involved in outreach, advocacy, policy development,
assessment, and program planning to increase access to family-centered, culturally-competent
systems of health services. The MCAH Coordinator can be reached at 473-4023 or

The toll-free MCAH resource referral line, (800)230-2955, can provide information on family planning services, prenatal care, supplemental nutrition programs (WIC), dental services, pediatric services, and free and low-cost health insurance programs for children and pregnant women.
Nutrition Wellness
The Nutrition Wellness Program provides educational tools and
activities, resources and technical support to promote healthy eating and physical
activity for health maintenance and disease prevention. Program staff can be

Children's Oral Health Project
The Marin County Children's Oral Health Project, funded by First 5 Marin, provides dental screenings, dental cleanings
and x-rays at county preschools that have children who are at high risk for dental decay.
Dental staff provides oral health education classes and written material in three languages:
English, Spanish, and Vietnamese. The Children's Oral Health Project Coordinator

PUENTES/Teen Pregnancy Prevention
The program provides outreach and education to teens and their
parents to prevent unplanned pregnancies, decrease early and un-safe sexual
activity, increase responsible male behavior, and strengthen family relationships.

Women, Infants and Children (WIC)
