Sexual Assault Specialist

All adult and child sexual assault and/or sexual abuse referrals go to our sexual assault specialist in the targeted prosecution division. The designated sexual assault specialist is required to coordinate the forensic interviews conducted at the Jeannette Prandi Children's Center. This specialist also works closely with our victim advocates and meets regularly with the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) for case reviews and ongoing training. This position will also receive for review child exploitation cases, particularly child pornography cases.

Recently the review of child stealing cases was added to this specialist's caseload. Our specialist assists in enforcing court-ordered or statutory child custody when, (1) there are grounds to believe the crime of child abduction has occurred, and (2) the parent who seeks enforcement is a resident of Marin County. The specialist assists in enforcing court-ordered visitation rights when the parent who seeks enforcement is a Marin County resident.

Working with the sexual assault specialist in each felony trial department is a sexual assault attorney. The felony sexual assault cases are prosecuted vertically in each felony trial department by the designated sexual assault attorney. Team members with this assignment receive specialized training with regard to this caseload.
